Live Earth

Tomorrow is the Live Earth Concert Event, expected to bring together more than 2 billion people to raise awareness of global warming.

While I tend to be a bit jaded about concerts expected to raise awareness and money, you have to be impressed with the lineup and scale of this -- 24 hours of music, more than 100 bands, across all 7 continents (apparently, there will be a group of scientists in Antarctica who will be, I assume, playing music). No matter your political or personal beliefs, I think this is something everyone can/should get behind so even if you don't watch, take a minute to get (more) educated and/or donate a little dinero.

I probably won't get the chance to watch much or any of it, but MSN has a
LiveEarth website set up, where you will be able to download and stream all or parts of it. They've got a kinda scary promo for it here. (They also have an article on the 10 shows that will rock, but, please - Smashing Pumpkins and Wolfmother will suck [SP because they're horrible live, and Wolfmother because, well, they're horribly overrated]).

Somehow, my tickets to either the the
London or Sydney gigs didn't show up (which is too bad, esp. for the Sydney show because Crowded House will be there), so I'll need to live vicariously through those on my blogroll already going.

[Look at how yummy Neil is. Even now that he's old.]

I can't believe you have had the new Crowded House album for nearly a month now, and you still haven't had it on high rotation...whats wrong with you boy?? :)
You had better start lyric-learning...the gig is coming closer and closer.
Missy Higgins and John Butler Trio were performing a Make Poverty History gig in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House last night in preparation for Live Earth. Ahhh...to be there in spirit!

And it's great timing... since global warming is hitting the good US of A this week. Too bad there are not shows in Vegas where it's 110 degrees. Ouch!

1 - Wolfmother is not overaited. its just a rock band. they are not trying to change the world they are just trying to, well, you know.
2 - Yes this is a good cause, and not becuase I used to be a shill for MSN.
3 - how is the purge?

I'm not going to any concerts. It's too fucking hot outside.

1. I think Wolfmother is badass, but they're just up my alley: Black Sabbath meets The White Stripes. I just think they're too heavy of a rock band to align with your tastes. Is that possible? Like Tori Amos may be good, but she doesn't rock, so she bores me.

2. I do like old Pumpkins, like Gish and Siamese Dream. Therefore, I think he should have got the whole original line-up back or not done it at all.

3. I can't comment on the hotness of Neil, but I will say that I'm glad he's sticking with the 80's hair.

The thought of a concert of this dynamic happening throughout the world is so amazing. The radios are also broadcasting it as well.

BTW the background of your blog looks much bluer!! Yes I notice these things.

Um, there is more than one person on your blogroll that went to live earth. Just because we couldn't all get to the London show doesn't mean it doesn't count!
